Rooney Calling The World On Upcoming Record

Los Angeles pop-rock group Rooney have completed work on their Calling The World album, which is expected in stores in June.

"We're super pumped for everyone to hear the record," the band wrote recently on their website. "We feel it's our best work."

Rooney worked with producer John Fields (Clay Aiken, Mandy Moore) on the LP and reportedly recorded about 60 songs before deciding on those they liked most. They haven't revealed a full track list, but some newer songs that have been played live for some time are "Love Me Or Leave Me," "Tell Me Soon" and "Paralyzed." The group's MySpace page features two tracks from the record: first single "When Did Your Heart Go Missing" and "Don't Come Around Again."

"We want to piece together something that is familiar to our fans for the Rooney sound, we don't want to obviously lose where we were on the last record," singer/guitarist Robert Schwartzman (the brother of actor and former Phantom Planet member Jason Schwartzman) said in a recent video blog.

Rooney released their underlooked self-titled debut album — which featured the singles "Blueside," "I'm Shakin'" and "Simply Because" — in 2003. The quintet toured with The Strokes and Weezer behind the effort. Rooney supported American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson during her North American tour last summer. While nothing has been announced, a North American tour is expected when the new album comes out.
