April 23rd, 2003
Commodore Ballroom
Vancouver, BC
As soon as Rooney took the stage at the Commodore, I
knew that I was about to get my money's worth. And after experiencing my
very first Rooney concert, I realized that I would probably pay twice as
much as I did ($60) and drive twice as long to see them again. This show
was absolutely amazing. Rooney took the stage at approximately 9 PM. The
played eight songs: Shakin', Terrible Person, Stay Away, If It Were Up To
Me, Sorry Sorry, Blueside, Daisy Duke, and Popstars.
The sound and vocals were amazing. The sound was so clean and everything
was on tune. The only problem was that if you hadn't heard Rooney perform
before, you might not have been able to understand what Robert Carmine was
saying. And although you might not have been able to understand, I am
positive that Rooney walked away with a dozen new fans. The cheers got
louder and louder as Rooney continued to play more songs.
Taylor Locke was amazing. I use to wonder what all the fuss was about with
him but now I truly understand it for myself. This guy is a genius
when it comes to playing the guitar and when it comes to performing. He
definitely puts on a show and I would pay to see him perform by
himself. He moves around and sings to himself when he isn't supposed to be
singing. He is so full of energy and he is just so mesmerizing.
Now, it's not that I didn't enjoy watching Ned, Matt, and Louie, but
Robert and Taylor were the most noticeable. Although, I did enjoy watching
Louie play his tambourine. It was very exciting. I couldn't see much of
Ned because Robert was standing in front of him.
My first Rooney experience was definitely a memorable one and I can't wait
for them to come back!
