Q: The band's style is
compared not only to modern musical groups but also to classic power-pop
acts such as Badfinger and the Cars, and bigger names such as the Beatles
and the Beach Boys. How do you feel about such comparisons?
A: i like all 4 of those bands you just rattled off. in fact, i
like them a shitload and would say that they are major favorites of mine.
so far so good i guess.
Q: Who do you consider
to be your biggest musical influences?
A: hard to peg down one band really. we subconciously and
conciously draw on an eclectic bunch of influences and we try to strike a
balance that is our own.
Q: It's been reported
that you've been writing music lately, with Robert finishing the lyrics.
Care to comment on any of the songs? (Sub-question: do you think this will
evolve into a steady songwriting partnership?)
A: thats not quite what has been going on so i guess you're sources
are incorrect. robert writes tons and tons of songs. i have some songs
too. eventually we will go through all of the band member's songs and pick
the best stuff for our next record. i would love to have robert work on
some words for my songs...that time will probably come sooner than later.
Q: What's in your CD
player right now?
A: wings. the original band with the =w= sign....before weezer.
Q: Does Rooney have
anything planned after the next tour?
A: yes tons of shit. lallapalooza, england, japan, europe and some
very tasty US tours in the fall!
Q: What would you like
to happen with the band in the future?
A: get huge overnight, squander all our cash, get addicted to
drugs, become estranged from our families, have our second record flop,
and break up by the time im 21!
Q: Which album (besides
Rooney's of course) would you absolutely recommend to the fans?
A: check out grandaddy.
Q: Is there anything
about the band/tour/fans/etc. that you are dissatisfied with?
A: actually, thats none of your business. the world isn't perfect,
is it?
Q: Which is more fun,
recording or touring? Why?
A: both are amazing for different reasons. anway, the reason i love
being in a band is because its the only job that lets you do both....not
to mention so much more......acting (music videos), visual art (album
design, merchandise, website), and tons of other facets of the music
business that are rad.
Q: Any last words of
wisdom?
A: full rock.
