ROONEY - ROONEY

These guys are the cutes. The five Rooney boys from California look like they have just stepped off the set of "Almost Famous" and their summery sound sits somewhere between The Beach Boys, The Beatles and Weezer. With lovely harmonies, pop-rock guitars and sweet lyrics, there's plenty to be pleased about. "If It Were Up To Me" sounds like a 60s ice-cream commercial, "Stay Away" is a little heavier on the rock sound, whilst elsewhere "Daisy Duke" demonstrates how much fun you can have with a synthesizer and killer chorus. The catchiest pop moment here is "I'm A Terrible Person" which is upbeat and has the makings of anthem stamped all over it. A very enjoyable and thoroughly listenable album. OUT NOW.
